About the Park Telašćica Bay is located in the central part of the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea, in the south-eastern part of the island of Dugi Otok. For its extreme beauty, richness and importance, this bay surrounded by 13 islands and islets, together with 6 islets inside the bay itself, was proclaimed a Nature Park in 1988. Telašćica acquired the status of a protected area already in 1980 because of its valuable flora and fauna, geological and geomorphological phenomena, versatile sea bottom life, and interesting archaeological heritage.

Every view of Kornati is equally captivating and breathtaking, especially when your companions are the magical starlit sky, the silence and serenity of nature, and the crystal-clear sea. The Kornati islands or the Kornati archipelago is the most indented group of islands in the Adriatic, with a total of 150 islands and islets, of which 89 islands, islets, and reefs are located within the Kornati National Park alone, and are therefore rightly called the most beautiful labyrinth of the sea. The bare landscape resembling the surface of the Moon is merely an illusion, because despite the landscape with sparse vegetation, man and nature have been living in harmony on these islands for thousands of years.

Few nations have been as feisty as the Croats when it comes to demanding independence over the centuries. Croatia was a part of the Habsburg Empire for hundreds of years, many of which were punctuated by protests and riots demanding more autonomy for the people of Zagreb and beyond. These demands continued with the establishment of Yugoslavia following World War I (originally called the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes), and it was the Croats who protested the most. Croatia was also the first republic to formally declare independence from Yugoslavia, doing so in June 1991. Croats take their independence very seriously, so don’t make the mistake of questioning it.
